Thompson – the one in first place – is in search of his first PGA Tour win and got off to a fast start. Most of the players on the first page of the leaderboard began with the easier North Course, including Koepka who is looking to win on Tour in back-to-back weeks.
A trio of Floridian siblings who do excellent work with golf clubs in hand has been trading shot for shot in tense matches of anything you can do I can do better, pushing each other around courses since they were kids.
Never one to give in inch — or a tap-in putt — the Thompson brood of brothers Nicholas and Curtis, now 30 and 20, respectively, and sister, Lexi, 18, found their best competition right at the Coral Springs home of Scott and Judy Thompson, spending days on end competing in chipping contests, putting matches and countless rounds of golf.
Nicholas Thompson qualifies for the 2013 U.S. Open Championship at Merion Golf Club. His rounds of 68-66 in Columbus, Ohio on Monday June 3rd was good enough to gain one of 15 spots at this US Open Sectional Qualifier following the Memorial Tournament.
